Ex No. 2: PLP Image Abstraction

Purpose

To abstract the elements of point, line and plane from the visually familiar. In this exercise, a photograph, into a composition that uses purposeful white space and an interesting combination of PLP figures; and to isolate these elements through simplification and use of organic and geometric forms.

Point, Line and Plane

For this exercise, we are encouraged to first translate the organic elements from the picture to points, lines and planes. Once we exhausted ourselves in finding every possible elements, we will then convert the organic points, lines and planes into geometric form.

Next, we were required to do tracing of texture on materials related to our image. The tracing was then scanned and masked into Planes layer. The final study is the compilation of selected points, lines, planes and textured planes layers. A rough and smooth texture images were also given to be embedded into the positive and negative space of the final study. See below for the final work of the exercise.
